I recently had the opportunity to attend a grilling class at Meat Church BBQ in Waxahachie Texas. Meat Church BBQ ran by pitmaster Matt Pittman (What a perfect name for a pitmaster, right?)
You would expect a grilling class to be done at a business or commerical site, but not in this case. Matt turned his backyard into a grilling paradise! For real, if you love to grill out you may believe you died and went right to heaven. There are built in grills ...Read Full Post »

Hawaii is the ultimate vacation destination, but to me there is so much more to Hawaii than just beautiful beaches and tropical drinks. When I go I'm coming with a tailgating perspective. I want to drink local beer, see how they grill and check out the college football stadium!
First off lets touch on the BEER.
Hawaii has some fine breweries that I had the pleasure of either visiting of finding the beers on the ...Read Full Post »

The buzz on social media recently has been with major fast food restaurants having secret menu items that you can find and order at different times of the day.
The one that stood out to me based on, shall we say, a rather unique name was McDonalds: McGangBang.
The McGangBang takes the McDouble and the McChicken and forms them into one crazy sandwich. Think one piece of chicken between two burgers.Read Full Post »

Burgers are a staple at tailgating events, but a basic burger is old news. Its time to get creative with burger skills.
On a plane ride recently the vision of the Tremendous Tailgate Burger came to me.
Buffalo meat, unique cheeses (gouda and colby jack for this one) green leaf lettuce, carmalized onions, red bell pepper, avacado, BACON, and sweet potatoes!Read Full Post »

Early morning tailgates suck. Why do they have noon kickoffs anyways? Half of the tailgaters were out the night before conversating at local bars about how the team would do the following day.
Getting up early with a mild hangover and no taste for the normal alcohol choices can doom a tailgate.
I had to do something about this. Currently there are a few early morning go to's that people use to start the early t...Read Full Post »

I sampled La Fin Du Monde, Labatts, Moosehead and Molsen Golden:
The "La Fin" had the highest alcohol content and, as such, more body. In sampling the La Fin, it had the most flavor that pleased my palate during the flight.
The Labatts would be my recomendation for a good beer to take tailgating as it has a smooth, refreshing flavor that will allow you to have multiple drinks over th...Read Full Post »

I love bourbon, so I figured let's start a blog on putting some of the top bourbons head to head in blind taste tests and determine which one tastes the best.
In my first Bourbon Battle Blog I put Makers Mark, Gentleman Jack and Woodford Reserve head to head!
We we were served a shot glass of each of these bourbons in a blind taste test to determine which one had the best drinkability without any mixers. Of course th...Read Full Post »

Beer has come a long ways, but this is the first team up I've seen between a beer company and an ice cream company.
New Belgium beer and Ben & Jerry's ice cream have partnered for ice cream flavored beer.
YES you heard correctly!
As I was purusing all of the diverse beer choices in Total Wine last week I found: Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Ale.
Have to ...Read Full Post »
